▶ TEAM BUILDING EVENT #2

TEAM BUILDING EVENT #2

CONTENT WARNINGS: forced scenarios, altered mood, illness, disaster aftermath, kidnapping, interrogation & torture, violence.

▶ 001. FLOWER VIEWING.

The Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency is very excited to report that cherry blossom season has begun, and the cherry blossom (and plum blossom) trees are blooming right on schedule once again. It’s a rare time where the concrete jungle of Neo Tokyo blossoms in beautiful shades of pink and white, and due to past conservation efforts to protect the natural cherry blossom trees, there are natural trees in season all over the city. It’s a sight to behold, and the people are very excited about it, setting up picnic mats and enjoying the beauty of nature with their friends and family. Even with all the distractions of technology, even with the looming knowledge that the next Kaiju could advance at any second, Hanami continues to be a popular custom, still being practiced centuries after the world was first at siege.

Outsiders are free to do as they like during this period. Some of the city still needs to be rebuilt from the recent floods, but stall owners have organized themselves splendidly to capitalize on the season. Traditional foods and snacks to enjoy with your loved ones at Hanami include dango, cherry blossom cookies, sakura mochi, onigiri, and hanami bento sets including sushi rolls, kamaboko and tamagoyaki. Prepare your own, or grab one at the many stalls offering them on their menu. Lots of places are selling sake at half off.

For Outsiders who want to do more than sit at the picnic, they can break up fights between the locals over the best picnic spots (they are very intense about this), or help track when the trees are blooming throughout the city and report directly to the Neo Tokyo Meteorological Agency. They’re happy to pay. If Outsiders choose to report where trees are blooming, they will accept a small form on their ocular devices and encouraged to walk in a pair or group for accuracy when gathering information. The form will include date, location, the kinds of trees blooming and how well they are blooming. (Players are free to head canon any information about this.)

Those who stay too long amongst the flowers might find themselves coming down with an … interesting form of hay fever. Symptoms can include flu-like symptoms, or uncontrollable giggling and elation. Looks like the flood waters from before are affecting the trees in some way.

"Mrrow … The effects will wear off in a few days. I’m a busy cat. Drink water, get plenty of rest. Come back when there’s something to actually worry about. Now, Alex, where did you put my mousey – "

▶ 002. WHITE DAY.

Here in Neo Tokyo, LILITH wants all its Outsiders to be happy and bonded as a team. A team that cannot work together will crumble in the next Kaiju attack. While it’s a great sentiment, the organization is a little too fond of … coercive methods. Just as chocolate was provided last month for Valentine’s Day, Outsiders will be airdropped several boxes of chocolates on March 14th, also known as White Day. A brief is beamed to their implant:

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Return the chocolate previously handed out to you on Valentines’ Day.
✖ For new Outsiders and Outsiders with leftover boxes, hand them all out to other Outsiders by the end of the day.
✖ Failure to comply will be grounds for disciplinary action.

Just as before, a failure to comply with these requirements will result in Outsiders being saddled with cleaning duty of the cafeteria and communal showers for a week, or a house arrest of 24 hours in their rooms.

As a note, we are leaving it up to players to decide how many boxes they are saddled with and how much they need to do to avoid punishment.

▶ 003. BUDDY UP.

With new Outsiders arriving at the base, LILITH wants them to feel as welcome as possible. Older Outsiders will be tasked to take a newbie under their wing and buddy up with them for a number of days (to a few weeks). The newbie, meanwhile, will be ordered to shadow a more experienced Outsider throughout that whole time to learn as much as possible about life as a LILITH recruit. LILITH expects the oldbies to act as a true senpai, but will ultimately leave it up to them to decide how best to nurture the new arrivals. A Shutterstock image will appear in the implants along with suggestions. Some suggestions provided by the LILITH Outsider Management Committee include:

✖ Giving them a tour of the base and city.
✖ Training sessions in fighting, use of weaponry and use of technology.
✖ Welcome parties and dinners to make them feel included.
✖ Shadowing the older arrival throughout their daily routine.
✖ Heart to heart sharing sessions about their worries and anxieties.
✖ Physical and mental health check ins.
✖ Buddying up with them during upcoming missions, simulation training and even the Kaiju fight.

These team ups will be assigned by LILITH randomly, and one newbie can be buddied up with multiple older recruits (the system might glitch on occasion and pair older Outsiders together too). How long the pair ups last is up to player discretion. Non-compliance on the part of older or newer Outsiders will be punished with increased cleaning duties. LILITH hopes to foster a culture of mutual growth and support within its employees!

As for recruits who have not been getting along, old and new, LILITH has been hearing everything spoken between Outsiders. Some need exercises to get along. Outsiders will be asked one morning to meet in the Simulation Arena and line up in an orderly fashion. Captain Yamakawa will be going down the line, shuffling characters who need to get along together. She will place a small, metal device on their wrists.

With a push of a button, two characters will be linked together by the wrist by a pair of invisible handcuffs. They are asked to spend between 24 - 48 hours together and go about their day, encouraged to talk about their vulnerabilities or things they have in common. This is to encourage them to get along.

✖ Spend a day or two with someone you hate and find a common ground. Good luck!

▶ 004. AID & REBUILD.

LILITH is dedicated to protecting and flourishing the city of Neo Tokyo. That’s why it’s pulled in Outsiders with such a wide array of skill sets. Every Kaiju attack devastates the citizens in some way - whether it’s through physical hurt and pain, emotional grief and stress, or losing a home or livelihood. It doesn’t help that there was panic around animal hybrids being let loose in the city shortly after. That’s why Outsiders will receive a similar objective each time: Rebuild the city of Neo Tokyo. This general objective is broken down into many small missions that Outsiders will receive throughout the month.

█ █ █ ASSORTED MISSIONS:
REBUILD THE CITY. Following the repeated flooding, many apartments and businesses have been destroyed. Outsiders are tasked with helping to rebuild homes and support the local businesses to recover. This can include aiding the construction work (particularly along the beach and near to the coast) and helping out at local shops. Many shops selling specialty Hanami treats are looking for help making their goods. Never made sakura mochi before? Today, you will learn. Outsiders are free to assume that their workplaces were affected and call out for help.
AID THE PEOPLE. Outsiders with skill sets in healthcare or healing (or whoever wishes to help) will be tasked to support the clinics and hospitals manage their patient load. This can include cooking for hospital kitchens, changing linen and caring for the sick and wounded.
CLEAN UP. Exactly as it says on the tin. Clean up any marine waste that’s been washed onto the shore or rubble that’s fallen in the wrong place. Hazmat suits in outrageous colours are provided on request.
CAPTURE REMAINING HYBRIDS. Though most of LILITH’s specimens have been contained, Dr. Spim (who’s been saddled with inventory work) reports that there are some still missing - and this includes their most valuable specimen of all. Outsiders are tasked to go hunting for these hybrids and bringing them back to the base. They may need to scour the streets or look through social media to find them. They may also need to steal a beloved pet, if said pet looks more like a winged rabbit than a regular rabbit. (Outsiders who have smuggled hybrids for themselves should take care not to be found ❤)

▶ 005. LEVEL 000.

Later during the month, some Outsiders will be tasked with a very specific mission. Remember those auctioneers who were captured at The Sapphire Room? They’re currently in the custody of LILITH, and with most of LILITH’s staff focused on organizing and containing the hybrid specimens that have been captured as well, they are far too bogged down to conduct their usual interrogation processes. This is where the Outsiders come in. Some Outsiders will receive a special mission to interrogate the captives and retrieve information by any means necessary. It works out splendidly too, because it shows the organization just what their imported workforce is … morally capable of. Outsiders will be paired up and brought to LEVEL 000, a basement level within the main base that is restricted access only. Did we always have a basement level? Best not to think about it.

A guiding drone will lead them to the cell room and instruct them to keep their eyes forward. There’s no need to look at the other cells around you. There is no one of interest there. Within the cell is one of the captives from the raid, who’s bound to a chair by metal shackles.

█ █ █ MISSION OBJECTIVE:
✖ Extort information from the captive by any means necessary. LILITH requires information about the whereabouts of Dr. Tanaka Junichiro, the organization behind the kidnapping, how they managed to trip up LILITH’s systems, and information about the whereabouts of the remaining hybrids (including their most valuable specimen).
✖ Outsiders are permitted to use any method they see fit, including physical and psychological torture. Weapons of torture such as blades, pliers, tasers, whips and torches are available for use. Outsiders may not take any weapon with them when they leave the cell.

Following the interrogation, they will be escorted out of LEVEL 000 by the guiding drone, and they will not be able to access it again without special clearance. Successful extortion of information will be rewarded with 50,000 KRYPTO debited to their accounts.

NOTE: This mission will be shared with only certain Outsiders, so it is essentially opt-in. Players who want to receive interrogation clues about the Starlight X mini-plot can comment below and receive an RNG clue. We will leave it up to players to NPC their own captives. Most of them are small-time gang members looking to make an extra buck or mercenaries hired to guard the auction. For extra moral panic, there are one or two regular people down on their luck who ran into the wrong crowd. Please note that due to the limited number of captives and the information they may know, players may receive duplicate clues.

UPDATE 3/16: Players will have until the end of March to submit for interrogation clues.

▶ 006. AFTERWORD.

[ Despite knowing he's doing the right thing and fighting to protect those around him for most of his life, Nanami can't help feeling the weight of his life bearing down on him. The years of pursuing a life with aimless frustration, feeling disconnected and insignificant. And then, when he had finally found a reason to fight, a feeling to strive for, it had all been at the end of his life. He had released all of that frustration into the hope that he could have left behind something better, something cleaner, for the next generation.

Except he hadn't. Itadori had cried repeatedly and thrown himself into unnecessary danger ever since seeing Nanami again. No matter what the older sorcerer had said, the young man seemed determined to throw himself away, and if that was what he had taken from his time with the older sorcerers, then Nanami is as worthless as Bakugo originally claimed. He's not a real teacher. No real mentor would have left behind such a pathetic, broken message for the one they tried to help. As a sorcerer, Nanami might have helped spare some lives, but as for a legacy, he was just as shit as any other sorcerer. He had survived the loss of Haibara only to repeat his mistakes over and over, never realizing how meaningless his efforts were even to his last breath. If mediocrity was the worst crime he could be held accountable for, he would accept that with relief.

At least, that was what he thought. Somehow Bakugo had managed to rope him into a practice session and convince him to try something different. It was the last thing Nanami had planned to do--he had been blindly accepting a quiet role helping with repairs and fighting kaiju in the background, where at least he wouldn't interfere with the new lives being built up in Neo Tokyo--but the blonde hero's fierce determination was strangely catching. So what if he isn't the strongest? Maybe he isn't a good mentor, but he is a sorcerer, and there's still something he can do with that. It didn't take Bakugo beating the sense into him, at least, to get Nanami to start breathing again. He chuckles dryly as the young hero growls back at him. ]

What, you think you'll already be ready to retire at 35? You burn out quickly.

[ He can't see that. Bakugo seems like the type that could go on endlessly. That's probably what the kids really need. The explosive energy makes Bakugo a better teacher than the other sorcerers. ]

Mm. I suppose if it's just timing, I can manage.

[ It's true that the concept is simple enough. Precision and timing have always been in Nanami's favor, so surely he can work with the delay. Maybe he can find better ways of transferring the impact of his technique--it feels harder that just swinging, but for once he feels motivated by that instead of discouraged by the frustration. ]

If Sensei thinks it will work, I'll do what I can to make it happen. I wouldn't want to disappoint you.

[ And maybe rely on Bakugo to give the kids the same kind of direction, too. Something he couldn't seem to communicate himself. At least he can rest easy knowing they have a friend to help them find their way forward. ]

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-04-27 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Ahhh]

That makes sense. [There's a pause, before he concedes, albeit in a reluctant tone.] You're probably the more experienced one of us when it comes to training like this, so I'll try whatever you suggest to help myself improve at this, within reason.
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 My own support department.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-27 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't come from a background of fighting like a lot of us.

[He heard that reluctance in Manjoume's tone. Bastard, don't get down on something you don't have any control over!]

But you're also more qualified to plan battle strategies than a lot of the damn bruisers running around.

[Many other Outsiders are "hit hard" with their powers, but it ends up being straightforward approaches most of the time.]

Play to your strengths to shore up your weaknesses.
thundercrashes: (Default)

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-04-28 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[Manjoume's brow goes up slightly--clearly, he had not been expecting the compliment and advice.

But, because Manjoume Jun is tsundere, he can't acknowledge it at face value and instead huffs quietly and says--]

Of course I'm a qualified strategist: I didn't graduate in the top 3 of my year at Duel Academy for nothing.
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Hmph around the corner.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-28 06:19 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's not like Bakugou is any better at taking compliments. Meaning he also knows when Manjoume's being a tsundere. NOT BECAUSE HE'S ONE HIMSELF OR ANYTHING!! At least the guy's reaffirming his own confidence.]

You graduated?

[This may be an insult. Or may be genuine curiosity. He knows Manjoume was going to school for dueling, but thought he was in his first year.]
thundercrashes: (the unhappy maiden)

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-04-28 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, of course I did. Hell, last thing I remember was our graduation party before I suddenly woke up and found myself here instead.

[Which, he is still pissed about because really, what kind of shit timing is that? Finally putting behind the bullshit the last few years of school had been, only to be swept up into new bullshit here at the last minute.]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Ignoring you. Leave me alone.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-28 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
First year, second year, or third year?

[Damn, while some people got yanked out of wars or missions, Manjoume got yanked out of a fucking celebration. That's a whole different kind of fucked up!

Especially to be dumped into this place. Considering the shit Manjoume went through... yeah. They haven't talked too much about Manjoume's past, but Bakugou knows there were some pretty heavy events.]
thundercrashes: (chthonian soldier)

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-04-28 08:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Third year.

[Yeah, Manjoume hasn't talked much at all about his past in this place yet. He tries to just have people think it was boring school stuff, with some amount of fighting to back up his skills if needed to justify being seen as useful in this place.

He doesn't see a reason to tell Bakugou, or anyone else for that matter right now, the kind of rough shit he had going on during his tenure at Duel Academy. Its not like it would change anything that happened, anyway...]
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Casual blue~)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-28 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
So you were almost done with school.

[Well, that's operating on Bakugou's mindset of U.A. being a 3-year school before graduation. Who knows how many Duel Academy ran. Despite his usual "don't give a shit" about most people's pasts, Bakugou's been actively interested in people's worlds, including Manjoume's when the guy feels like talking about it.

Mostly the technical aspects of it rather than digging into Manjoume's personal experiences. He doesn't need sob stories. Well, close friends can do sob stories. Considering what he knows of the duelist, the guy wouldn't wanna talk about that shit anyways.]
thundercrashes: (dimensional catapult)

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-04-28 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Literally would have been leaving Duel Academy for good after the party.

[He sighs, making an annoyed hand gesture at their surroundings.]

But now all of my post-school plans have to be put on hold until we get out of this hellhole.
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Unusually serious for him.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-28 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn. And now you're stuck in this shit hole.

[Yeah, he answered that before Manjoume did, but good to know they're in accord for the sentiment. He leans back a bit and looks at the cuff on their wrists.]

We're gonna get out and we're gonna go back to all our lives.
seaurchin: (116)

[personal profile] seaurchin 2024-04-29 09:51 am (UTC)(link)
[ Shachiku ... There's a pause after Bakuog clarifies, and Megumi lets that sink in. ] Was he fine with that nickname ...

[ He's known Nanami since he was a child, given that he is Gojo's friend, so he also knows how that man feels about work and overtime. There's a sigh. ]

Did he tell you what happened after Yuji was forcefed those fingers?
blastedass: by blastedass @ dreamwidth (💥 Class 1-A's noble beast.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-29 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Don't care.

[Megumi should know by now Bakugo usually sticks with the nicknames he gives people, regardless of what they think. Would it make Megumi feel better to know Nanami was more irked by the mocking "Sensei" nickname?

Despite the man's annoyance, Bakugo got a feeling there was some sardonic amusement from Nanami about it. Anyways, the following question earns a small frown.]

I know he ate one of his own volition, and a few others. Who shoved more down his mouth? The jujutsu society assholes?
heroforall: (cred_coronatae130)

[personal profile] heroforall 2024-04-30 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I know Itadori and Fushiguro! They're really good guys. And they're lucky to have you here.

[It's selfish so he tries his best not to think about it, but he really wishes Aizawa-sensei and All Might were here sometimes.]

What kind of classes did you teach?
blastedass: by kacchan @ dw (💥 Fucking bird.)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-04-30 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
[Bakugo can't change the way Nanami views his life, but he can certainly argue with him about that viewpoint. Whether it's regarding the shitty way the jujutsu sorcerers used their school, teaches, and students, or whether it's the legacy Nanami left behind. All of this right now started with an argument after all. He's seen plenty of heroes give up and retire when society turned against them, much to his annoyance, but he's also read about heroes who found something worth protecting, or a goal to strive for, close to the end of their career or even lives.

And yet, they can agree on Itadori. Bakugo's watched the other sorcerer showing the same damn habits that Midoriya did. A reckless disregard for his own safety, an insane willingness to put himself in danger and throw his own life away for the sake of someone else, tossing his health and body into the fray just so no one else had to experience any pain or suffering. Despite his irritation about it (and in some regards, it stems from his frustrations about Midoriya and a mild case of trauma at seeing his childhood best friend almost die before his eyes) Bakugo can't say he doesn't understand it. He just thinks it's insane and dislikes it immensely.

The thing is, he doubts Nanami left behind that kind of message. All Might's interactions with Midoriya wouldn't have stopped him from sacrificing himself for other people and Bakugo thinks Itadori is the same way. There are some people born with that kind of mind. It's fucked up. What he's seen from Itadori after Nanami doesn't suggest the young man took away the negatives from his teacher's lessons. But rather applied those lessons to his own mindset that already operated before Nanami even got there...

Even All Might himself couldn't stop Midoriya from being Midoriya and Nanami wasn't going to stop Itadori either.

But right now, Bakugo's not focused on Itadori. That's an argument for another time. Nanami's got his attention, including the expansion and application of his cursed technique. Some people look too much on the bright side and pester Bakugo about using the opportunity to try something new. Fucking pisses him off... but it's not untrue. Nanami's in the same option, able to attempt things he never got to during his life. Even if they're kaiju killers and city helpers, they don't stop there. They can do what they want. Getting stronger will only improve their work here. The weighty expectations and results of their lives back home didn't have the same pressure unless they allowed it. Nanami can take those plunges here he never thought he could back there.]

I said I'll consider taking on interns then. Didn't say shit about burning out.

[Gran Tourino is still an operating hero (if needed) and he's a fucking geezer! Bakugo has no intention of retiring. He's planning on being a hero until he dies. Hopefully of old age... Time will tell if others can survive his teaching.]

I think timing's one of the elements. [He can't say for sure since he doesn't have cursed energy, but the way Nanami described it made it sound like this is possible. Learning when to release his energy while it's further away from him to replicate that impact he makes with his blade in hand.] Try shortening the rope and see if that messes with your timing.

[It probably will, but that's the point. Nanami can get a feel of how fast his energy transfers from himself to his blade along the cord and can start to adjust the timing based on that speed ratio. Bakugo bristles at the "sensei" taunt and glares at the sorcerer, middle finger popping up a second later.]

Urusei! You're not gonna fucking disappoint me. [Prediction? Demand? Promise? That's up to Nanami to figure out. But he'll do his damnest to keep helping him. Doing something half-assed is never his acceptance.]
likemybooks: Taryon looking over his book (concerned)

[personal profile] likemybooks 2024-04-30 01:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Taryon keeps his head held high as he walks along the designated path to the cages, unsure of where the guards are stationed. He can feel their eyes on him, and there's a heaviness in his gut from the knowledge that if they show their hand too early, they'll be vastly outnumbered. He stuffs his hands into his jacket pockets and focuses on the noises ahead.

Two guards are stationed at the entryway to the cage room, with two more at opposite corners. Among the animals are several handlers, focused on managing the business over arming themselves. There are few other guards on the perimeter of the building as lookouts.

He stops at Yuwon's side, where a creature that may be part-rabbit watches them. Its nose flicks, then it yawns, revealing a row of sharp teeth.]

Definitely illegal. [He glances at the rest of the room. Some of the workers check if these two have purchased anything yet.] Should we pay for it and take it back?
thundercrashes: (painful choice)

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-05-01 07:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Of course we are. I refuse to settle for being stuck here forever.

[And with that, Manjoume turns his attention back to the simulation room again. It's not going to be easy, trying to work out or train while handcuffed to Bakugou here, but... he needs to get stronger.

He needs to make sure that he isn't going to be weak enough to end up dying alone in this place, far away from home.]

So with that said, let's get to training to make sure the day we get to leave this place arrives sooner.
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 Aw yeah. Was a fucking blast!)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-05-02 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
[They're in that solidarity together. Bakugou doesn't intend to let anyone here die on his watch, but he's not going to give up on finding a way back home and getting everyone who wants to go back to their world. Some said it'd be nice to come back and see each other again, but fuck that. You won't see Bakugou saying some bullshit sentiment.]

Why do you think we're going this way? Unless you wanna get there faster.

[Which could mean running... or Bakugou lets a few explosions go in his hand, a threatening sort of amusement.]
thundercrashes: (armed dragon lv5)

if you want to, we can handwave the actual training part and time skip to after?

[personal profile] thundercrashes 2024-05-02 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
[At that, Manjoume makes a face.]

No, whatever it is you're thinking, save it for when we are actually in the simulation room.

[Running or explosions while they are in the hallway is not a good idea!! As such, Manjoume does pick up his pace now so that they can hurry the fuck up and get inside the room once whatever items they want or settings they've decided to set for it take effect.]
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 On a mission to hunt you down.)

we do the time warp~

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-05-02 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
It's not gonna fucking matter once we're in the simulation room!

[He wants to GET there faster, dammit! But since Manjoume's gonna cast his ballot on walking faster, Bakugou picks up pace to match (and maybe get a little bit ahead of him, because competitive and irritable). The training he has in mind does end up being more akin to target practice and aiming training, not wanting to go blasting around while Manjoume's shackled to his wrist. Someday the duelist might have to play while moving or suspended, but that's not going to be today.

At least it'll keep them busy till late.]
stresspoint: (pic#16844266)

[personal profile] stresspoint 2024-05-04 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[ Bakugo can't make up Nanami's mind for him, but even his words as an outsider help bring the sorcerer some sense of purpose. He strives to help others. He wants to believe in the future. But hope and optimism aren't really his usual speed, so sometimes he needs sheer, bullheaded stubbornness to break through everything else.

He can't control what he left behind. What is will be whether he wills it to be or not, but Nanami does care about what affect he has on others. More so than he wants to admit to others, although he takes it just as seriously. Even when he can't change what Itadori does, he still worries about doing more damage than good. And part of that is knowing what he can do in the present. Getting stronger. Believing in potential. ]

Mm. Then when you're 35 I'll ask you again.

[ For the first time in a while, Nanami feels positive about that. Having Bakugo go back over the fundamentals of cursed energy clear his head and give him those simple goals to focus on. It's like being back in school, testing his own abilities out and feeling more comfortable with himself. He even smiles slightly, feeling a strange kind of warmth at hearing the young hero say he won't be disappointed. It's a promise for another future, a better one he can work toward. ]

Well, if it's just timing, that shouldn't be too hard.

[ Nanami wraps the rope around his arm, drawing it shorter as he moves closer to the pole and the messy stack of drywall. The first swing he takes, makes the blade glance off one of the pieces, bouncing back at him with the cursed energy spilling out into nothing. Nanami doesn't pause, swinging the rope back behind him to keep his momentum and going in again, throwing the blade into the pole and activating the burst of energy as it hits, just a fraction of a second too short to cut through cleanly. He rears back and swings again without stopping, taking his third attempt by swinging the rope above him so the blade loops into a circle and spins around to strike the pole, this time cutting it through without losing speed. The blade comes down, but Nanami doesn't stop then either. He jerks his wrist to throw the blade forward again, sending it flying up as the top piece of the pole falls forward, slashing through it with another controlled hit. Timing and accuracy. Yeah, he can work with that. When he lets the blade swing back to him, he looks back to Bakugo. He might even sound a little fond. ]

What grade would you give that?
blastedass: by bokunoicons @ tumblr (💥 I'm liking this already...)

[personal profile] blastedass 2024-05-04 06:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Then he'll break through, and turn to look at the man with a grumpy, expectant face, demanding Nanami break through the next one because he's not going to bust through all his damn roadblocks for him. A little help from outside every now and then isn't a bad thing, but that can't be your only strength. Believe in yourself, strengthen yourself, and together, with everyone, win.

There's no way to know what a person will do with a gift, a teaching, a legacy left behind. But to leave it and trust, or hope, is far better than to never leave it behind at all. Bakugo can't approve of Itadori's recklessness anymore than he can approve of Midoriya's, but both of them inherited things from their teachers. And they're going to continue forward, smashing through one trial after another, until they save and win everything. All Bakugo can do is promise to be there for both of them as long as possible.

Just like Nanami.]

If you don't, I'll fucking end you.

[A promise with him is binding. He'll expect to see Nanami there when he's 35. No matter how ridiculous it is. Sometimes it's best to throw complexity to the wind and focus on the one little thing at a time. Whether it's a technique or a life goal, even a relationship. There's a small flicker inside him that's warm and excited to see Nanami take even this step forward... Perhaps it's the kind of thing that Nanami himself felt when teaching Itadori, even if neither stubborn guy will admit it. A teacher invests in his pupil, no matter how small. This is a future Bakugo will invest part of himself in. Nanami's future.]

Then do it again.

[No one got worse at doing something repeatedly. (Minus doing it so long you fuck yourself up... but that's just being an idiot.) Too bad for the old couple their shop's repair work turned into some weird Outsider training moment. They can bitch to LILITH later and Bakugo'll tell the organization to fuck off. He watches Nanami take a swing, then another, the glancing initial blow recoiling while he takes the momentum to make the second one stronger. That's a nice adaptation, taking advantage of the previous weaker blow. Again, and he can almost see the "firing" moment where Nanami releases his energy at impact, already compensating for the shorter distance. He's a smart man... This time, the strike cleaves through, and a follow up takes the falling pipe piece out of the air before it even lands. Heh, Nanami picked that up quickly. Shortening the distance was a good idea, letting him get a better feeling for when to release the curse energy. With the added momentum increasing the striking power, it'd only get stronger. And if he can alternate between long range and short range, that'll only make him more formidable and flexible as a fighter. But Bakugo's a stickler even if he feels proud at Nanami's accomplishments.]

Wow, you killed two out of five and injured the other three. They're probably mauling you right now. [But there's a cheeky little grin on his face and it's impossible to deny he looks proud.] But those last two hits were a lot better. The fourth one was successful [coming from someone who can't use cursed energy, he's grading on goal accomplishment] and you capitalized on it to land the fifth. Improving already.

That's a good question ... We don't know. [ There are a lot of questions that have gone unanswered after the Shibuya incident, and they just haven't had the time to sit down and think things through. They did have the time here in Neo Tokyo, but was that really what they wanted to spend their time doing? Mulling over the details of events that happened on the worst day of their lives? Not at all. ]

It was someone who wanted to awaken the King of Curses residing within him. So, it was probably a cursed spirit.

Great. Your society's track record is real fucking impressive.

[From what he's heard of Megumi's world, their system of government in the jujutsu society is shit. And while it won't hurt to think about things here, Bakugo has little belief that their work in this place would transfer over to their own lives back home. As much as he hates the idea of forgetting the people and experiences he's had in Neo Tokyo, two people he knows already went home and came back... Zero overlap between there and here. Reality can be a bitch.]

There has to be another way to end that bastard without killing Itadori.

[He refuses to accept that solution.]

[They are indeed kept busy, and while it's nothing too strenuous that it would leave Manjoume immovable by that end, he is still pretty sore. A good kind of sore though, he thinks, the kind to be expected from their training and working out in general. So he can't complain too much.

Now all he wants is to eat something, maybe shower or at the very least wash his face since they are still handcuffed together, and then rest. The bed situation... he hasn't actually thought about it yet, he will worry about it after they eat.

So unless Bakugou is going to raise an objection, he barely even thinks about it as he already starts walking in the direction of the cafeteria on autopilot once they step outside of the simulation room.]
