[Honestly, Yato doesn't see much wrong with what he's doing. He's checking on the girls' side, making sure everyone (especially Hiyori) is safe, that's all. It's not as if he's sitting there drooling over them. His eyes go from one lady to the next in search of the person who means the most to him, although he isn't so above noting when one has... ahem, particularly nice assets. It's at that point that his brain-to-mouth filter fails and he neglects to consider that despite being so high up, he's still within earshot. Especially earshot of someone with fox ears.
So really, it shouldn't come as too much of shock that when said fox girl starts moving, it's not merely to get comfortable or shift position. He notes the movement, but is so focused on his goal that it's only when she stretches that his attention comes back to her, in time to see that flaming ball heading his way.

A familiar yelp is the result, followed by a resounding crash as his tower of stools topple sideways with him along with them, tossing him headfirst into a bush. Shame it's not a rose bush or another type with prickles, huh.
