[Right from sentence one, Dearka's heart starts to plummet. And it keeps going. Tumbling, further and further with each word that comes from Yzak's lips.

The worst thing is how much this still sounds like the man he loves. At least in his cadence, his demeanor, his mannerisms... The way he holds his head up with pride, that razor sharp gleam in his eye that sharpens to an even keener edge whenever he monologues at length about something important to him. All of that and more marks this as unmistakably his Yzak.

That makes it all the more galling. That near perfect familiarity, but it speaks of culling and ends justifying the means. Proposing solutions to grim hypotheticals that are all too accepting of the idea of mass killing.

He can imagine how this conversation might play out in a more normal circumstance out all too clearly. If Dearka were to muse about such an outcome, a fork in the road where one world had to be ended in order to protect their own? Yzak would absolutely squawk at him and tell him how that wasn't even a fucking thing, and how he needs to stop fretting about morbid shit like that.

There's a long, heavy pause before Dearka manages to find his voice again, and in that time he just. Stares up at Yzak, his jaw set, eyes searching. What's he looking for? Any sign at all that Yzak is aware of just how fucking crazy he sounds.

Eventually... He exhales heavily. Tipping his head back for a moment, he scratches at his jaw with his good hand.]

...You know what's really interesting to me? We've spent, what, a whole year and a month here now? Fighting kaiju, putting our butts on the line, earning adulation and adoration from the public...

In half that time, we barely learn anything about where these fuckers are coming from or what they really want. And then we start getting hints. We start getting signs that the kaiju maybe have a goal. A desire to eradicate humanity.

Then, last month, Queenie gets knocked through a rift. Disappears for a few weeks. And when she resurfaces, what's she suddenly all about? According to what you just told me: Destroying humanity.

[He's looking at Yzak askance now, with just one eye open, his face casually turned away. Head rolled lazily to one side. He cracks a grin. It's not a very nice grin.]

I just think that's kind of interesting.

[He is, very pointedly, not touching on anything Yzak said about protecting PLANT. Yet. Oh, he'll get there. But he has to make this one observation first. He has to know how Yzak navigates that. Because surely he's thought about this as well... Right?]
