( OPEN ) we are here and going to make it everyone's problem

WHAT: Breaking the ice with a spontaneous slumber party

(The fun thing about being taken and thrown into a new place is no one really knows you so when Tsurumaru Kuninaga is missing from dinner, he's sure no one really notices. Eventually someone will learn that whenever he's missing for too long, he's probably up to something if he doesn't actually have something to do.

He returns some time towards the end of dinner, when most people have probably begun to settle a bit for the evening. He stumble-dashes back to the base with an armful of plastic shopping bags and oooh he is definitely up to something…)

& SET UP

In the Everlight wing, they need to do some ☆re-arranging☆. Some desks and chairs need to be borrowed from rooms to drag outside for the food. While they're at it, they might as well grab the blankets and pillows too. They might also have to figure out what appropriate music to play. So maybe someone knocks on your door to commandeer your furniture and time. Or maybe they figure out a way to play music so everyone can hear and you end up drawn out by music.

Maybe you get sent out to buy more snacks and drinks for everyone while you're standing around with nothing to do. Let's go, Everlights. It's time to drag people into early shenanigans.

& FOOD & GAMES

There is plenty of food to be found. Check out the mixed bottles of different flavored sodas and teas, assorted chocolates, and other sweets from the convenience stores. Eventually, a couple of pizzas and a few more substantial things might show up on the table. Some of them are traditional flavors characters will be used to seeing but others may… be more out there. There sure are a lot of more experimental foods combinations in the future, huh? Have you ever tried coffee-flavored water? Yogurt-flavored potato chips? Flaming hot lava chocolate? What about calamari Oreo pizza? Well, now is your chance.

There are also stacks of playing cards and maybe some other silly toys and games from whatever is the equivalent of a dollar/pound store in the future.The 100 Kryptos store? Which version of UNO do you know how to play? Do you know how to play Werewolf or Mafia? There are plenty of bottles to spin. Give someone a call and see if they answer or else you have to eat one of those cursed pizza slices. Of course, when enough people gather around, there are plenty of other ways to make your own fun.

& CHILL

For more introverted characters that might want a quieter place to hang out, some Everlight has probably left their room open. Pillows and blankets have been piled into the room to make it a quieter, more laidback place to hang out. When was the last time you made a pillow fort?

Hello, Tsuru gets bored easily and he wants everyone to have ☆good vibes☆ because bad vibes make him sad so he is steamrolling and dragging people into slumber party shenanigans. It's in the Everlight wing but other characters can hop over if they're curious or dragged in. I asked the mods about the potential consequences of staying the night and they said it would be fine for the slumber party so go wild.

[ Slipping away is easier than he thought it would be, mostly because of it being a lot of strangers. They're all making friends pretty quickly here, since they've all been brought here out of nowhere, but that doesn't mean that he expects anyone to pay attention to him. Fushiguro and Kugisaki, maybe, or Nanami if he was here, but other people?

The sound of his name makes him turn his head, eyes widening briefly before he lifts a hand to wave, totally not registering or remembering the possible pointlessness of that. ]

Yo! Is everything okay?

[ Help first, ask questions later. ]

[ Oh good, right person. Shion's smile widens as he steps in a bit closer. ]

I wanted to introduce myself. A friend of yours asked me to keep an eye on you. [ No, those jokes never get old.

But considering how eager Yuji has been all evening, he's starting to suspect why he's been given instructions. Shion is not unfamiliar with the sort who will run themselves ragged trying to look after everyone else.

The irony there isn't lost on him, either. ]

My name is Shion.

A friend...

[ Yuji frowns as he tries to consider it. It's the kind of thing Fushiguro would ask for - as if Yuji's going to get himself in some kind of trouble or danger straight away, because that really is his habit. It's not as if he means to, or that he asks for it, but...

Shaking his head, he laughs a little. ]

You don't have to worry about that, I can take care of myself! Thanks, though!

[ He offers a bow, not really... Paying attention to the fact this guy is blind. ]

It's nice to meet you.

Oh, my instructions on the subject were quite clear.

[ And to the point as well. Something along the lines of making sure that neither Yuji nor his friends would be hurt or else the entire facility would be at risk. Shion has no doubt that it's not an empty threat.

But he just smiles, bowing easily in return. So polite. ]

And you as well. Did you need something out here? [ Or was he just looking for some alone time, is the unspoken question. ]

If it's like that... It was probably Nanamin, right?

[ If Yuji had to guess. It doesn't really sound like the kind of thing Fushiguro would say, if he was being that clear about it, and Kugisaki would probably assume he could take care of himself a little bit? So maybe it was Nanami taking care of him, and it makes him feel a weird, buzzing warmth. Nanamin is here.

Looking around the room, he huffs a little laugh, waving his hand. ]

I was just taking a break! It's getting pretty loud in there, but it's nice. It's fun.

[ Nanamin, is it? That clarifies a few things, though really Shion hardly needs more evidence there.

But as it is, Yuji's overwhelming positivity is somewhat infectious, and Shion can't help a bit of the reflexive tightness in his shoulders relaxing slightly in response. He may have his orders, but it's seeming increasingly likely that it's something he would have been happy to do anyway.

If he's determinedly not thinking about anyone Yuji might remind him of, that's a different issue. ]

Ah. Loud, yes. [ Unusually sensitive hearing can be a pain. ] It's good to see everyone in such high spirits, given our unusual situation.

I think we need it before all the weird stuff starts. If what we've been told is true...

[ Then sooner rather than later they're going to be fighting, dealing with monsters and other things. It's not unusual for Yuji, accustomed to fighting curses, but that doesn't mean he's looking forward to it. He'll do it because it's the right thing to do, not because it's fun, necessarily.

Sighing, he glances back up at Shion. ]

Maybe we should be training or something, but it doesn't feel like the right time.

Training will come eventually, I'm sure.

[ If nothing else, they all have to figure out how to work together, rather than as rogue elements. They've been put into these teams for a reason, presumably, and that's not always something that comes naturally to people used to fighting alone. ]

But it's worthwhile getting to know each other first. You fight better if you know who's standing next to you. [ Team bonding, in far too many words. ]

Besides, if we've all been pulled out of our homes, we're owed at least something nice.

I guess. It just seems a bit weird.

[ Even when he had joined the Tokyo branch of the school, he had started doing a little training pretty quickly; there is that part where everyone thought he was dead, but that doesn't seem as important right now.

Breathing out, he waves his hand absently. There's no point complaining about having a break, but it feels weird to be relaxing now when the last few weeks have been non-stop for him.

What Shion is saying makes sense, so he can cling to that. ]

Are you used to it? Fighting?

[ There's a brief pause as Shion tips his head to consider the question. 'Used to it' is an odd sort of phrasing, but he can see the shape of what's being asked well enough not to dwell on it. ]

In a manner of speaking. I taught kenjutsu for my clan, for a time. [ There's a certain bittersweet tone there, though it may be hard to catch. He doesn't regret the teaching or his students, but the rest of it is...difficult in some ways.

And then had come the island, and spending days on end constantly fighting for your life does tend to shift priorities some. ]

More recently, ah. Trouble seems to have a way of finding me.

Yeah, tell me about it.

[ Yuji might sound a little petulant about it if he wasn't so... Sad. Instead, he shakes his head and adjusts his weight, stretching just a little bit. ]

My grandpa taught me some martial arts when I was younger, but a lot of it I just learned by practising. It's a little bit like Taido? But grandpa like karate best, so that's what he let me learn.

[ All the other things were just instinctual, the sort of thing he did without thinking because it felt right. ]

I don't know if punching monsters is going to work here though.

I don't see why not.

[ Unless there's some reason not to want to touch them, like those creatures in the training game. But there are ways around that, if it comes down to it. Better not to borrow trouble until they know more of what they're dealing with.

To be completely honest, if punching wouldn't work, it seems unlikely LILITH would have pulled Yuji here in the first place, but something in Shion suspects that might not be the most encouraging thing to bring up. It does make him curious, though. ]

Is that what you do generally? Punch monsters?

Yeah, with my cursed energy.

[ Is he going to explain that? Nope. ]

I've tried using a sword or something in the past, but it wasn't really as good as just using my fists. I don't have any kind of natural technique like other people do, so I just have to use my strength however I can.

[ Seems a little insane to run up to a giant monster and try and punch it, but it's definitely not the craziest thing Yuji's done in his time. ]

Ah, like Nanami-san.

[ He'd gotten a bit of a primer on the subject from the man in question, at least enough to have a vague idea of what Yuji means. And that would make sense, given the intensity his orders had been delivered with, that they would have known each other previously. ]

I've known people to manage quite well against monstrous enemies with nothing but their fists, I wouldn't discount yourself quite so easily. [ He pauses, considering. ] Unless you'd like to learn something different?

That's right! Nanamin has a different technique to me, though.

[ Since Yuji doesn't have a technique... He just punches...

All the same, he intends to do what he can, to put himself forward and protect others as much as possible. He can do that, since it's what he's built to do; to fight, to protect others, since he is strong. He'd made that promise.

Tilting his head, he considers. ]

It might be a good idea to practice with other weapons, too... Gojo-sensei let me use a sword once, but my hands were more useful in that fight.

[ How fascinating. Perhaps at some point he'll get a chance to see them all in action, but Shion supposes that now is probably not the time to dig too deeply. As curious as he is about this cursed energy, it can wait.

For the moment, he only nods and spreads his hands slightly. ]

I have taught the sword in the past, if you're interested in learning. Or practicing.

[And maybe if he starts teaching often enough it will stop hurting. It is nominally his job now, after all. ]

I'd like to!

[ Sitting up a little taller, he's immediately interested, his eyes widening and his expression turning into a beam. He's absolutely thrilled at the idea of learning more and more about fighting and martial arts, especially if he can put it to good use. ]

I can practice, but I think I still have a lot to learn.

[ It pulls a faint smile out of Shion in return, the energy infectious. ]

Feel free to come and find me whenever you like, then. I'm sure we can find a proper training style for you.

[ Or at least to test a few things out. Shion won't deny that he'll be interested to see exactly what Yuji is capable of. ]
