TRAVEL/KAIJU LOG #8
ANGELS FALL INTO THE UNDERWORLD
ⶠ001. OUTSIDERS UNBOUND (TRAVEL)
There are no alarm blaring this time, no signals dispatched to the Outsidersâ oculars. With all of the organization down, the Angels of LILITH are left on their own to find the source of this crisis and solve it. And find it they did: an effort led by Aventurine, Jinx, Rin and Murasama was able to locate Ereshkigal somewhere underground in the country of Iraq. Raidou was able to ascertain that this location is KĂ»r - the Underworld spoken of in ancient Sumerian legends - and Tezcatlipoca used his divinity to confirm what many feared: the missing goddess has been corrupted and has become a calamity attempting to end humanity. What of the seven others who have disappeared? Tsurumaru, Ratio, Silco, Godzilla, Yzak, Bakugou and Hiyori? Are they corrupted too or are they prisoners? And what of Yuji who foolishly leaped into a rift in an attempt to rescue his friends? According to Danteâs efforts to connect with them, they are safe but they arenât exactly in their right mind. But in what way?
Those questions may be answered soon as Outsiders depart for their next mission. Yesod and Shinn were able to further refine the search and identify the location of the Underworldâs entrance: in the archaeological dig of Nimrud, where the ruins of the Temple of Ishtar are found. Gilgamesh, who is seemingly a regular of KĂ»r, may be able to guide the Outsiders once they get there.
The trip to Kish however is nothing like previous travels. Where LILITH is typically an organized and orderly organization, the Outsiders have to devise their own methods of getting there. Kaga and Akagi are flying LILITHâs cruiser to Kish and will take anyone willing to go with them. Others may also use a data portal to go to Egypt and from there travel to Iraq - it is the longest way, but also perhaps the safest?

ⶠ002. KUR KIGAL IRKALLA (RUINS OF THE TEMPLE OF ISHTAR, IRAQ)
Upon arriving, the heat is scorching and the sight is one unlike any the Outsiders have seen before. No futuristic buildings nor old-fashioned houses can be found - instead, there are the ruins of a three thousand years old city. Dr. Masuda welcomes the Outsiders, explaining to them the ongoing archaeological efforts that have been undertaken to restore the site thanks to modern technology.
And indeed, a few ancient buildings on the outskirts of the ruined city are fully restored. Due to the unique circumstances, Outsiders are allowed to use them and enjoy all the comfort from ancient times. Though there are beds, they are made with reeds with stone pillows; if you are fortunate, you may find one of the few pillows made with wool and feathers. At the very least, as far as food is concerned the Outsiders will not suffer: the archaeologists offer bread, cheese, and meat stews all cooked in the ways of ancient Mesopotamia. Blank clay tablets and reed pens can also be found, toys for children made of clay and little statues depicting various deities. There are also a lot of broken statues, and Dr. Masuda has an explanation for those.
"Our troubles began last month with an earthquake. Upon assessing the damage, we found all of Ishtarâs iconography throughout the ruins destroyed. Whatâs weird is that nothing elseâs been damaged - itâs like someone or something vandalized all things related to her. Then in the deepest chamber of the temple, we found a tunnel that wasnât there before. According to our tools it leads to an underground cave. Dr. Jones and his team decided to explore it, but they havenât returned yet."
He will take the Outsiders to the Temple of Ishtar, which still lays in ruins and hasnât been restored. Statues depicting the goddess are all shattered, and upon reaching the deepest chamber underground: an opening. Flashing a light inside will reveal a tunnel with no end in sight. As they stand by the opening, Outsiders will find their tracker rings and localization magics reactivating: their companions are deep inside the cave.

ⶠ003. GATE OF GRAVE KEEPER (FIRST GATE OF THE UNDERWORLD
After a period of traveling through the dark cavern, the air is cool and smells sharply of earth and iron. They will be greeted by a pale glow. When they come close, they will see the light coming from several cages that line a single path which leads them deeper and deeper - all identical to the one Ereshkigal is usually seen carrying around.
They might notice random pitfalls of various depths and strange rock formations with characters scratched into the surface. Were those the names of long lost Outsiders or maybe figures from home? They disappear when you look away, becoming illegible after. Was it maybe a trick? Further up ahead, figures can be seen and voices can be heard in the distance.
Those who decide to run ahead will find themselves facing someone from their past. They act normally at first but after a while, the Outsider may notice something amiss. Regardless of who they are, they will try to convince the Outsider to "join them." Should the Outsider falter, they may be afflicted by the Rift, triggering feelings of grief and regret and even make them turn on their allies.
For those strong enough to resist the illusions, the figures become frustrated and lash out. They shed their illusions and reveal themselves to be skeletal spirits that slash at the Outsiders with sharp claws. They are relentless but simple enough to defeat with regular attacks.
Defeat the spirits and carry on ahead to find a mausoleum: the sealed gate. Many gallĂ» spirits guard the gate. A dark, hooded figure calls out from atop the mausoleum. They look down on the Outsiders with cold, steely eyes.
"I didn't expect so many to make it this far. I'm surprised."
The figure draws their sword and on cue, the spirits attack. Defeat them to enter the mausoleum and fall deeper into the underworld.

ⶠ004. GATE OF REASON (SECOND GATE OF THE UNDERWORLD)
As Outsiders descend further into the Underworld, the ocular network becomes spotty, making it difficult to keep in contact with each other, though it is still possible with concentrated effort.
Upon exiting a narrow passageway, they are greeted with a pathway that branches into two, with what seems like Rifts at each end. Despite their appearance, they do not give off any Rift energy, nor do they cause any Rift poisoning symptoms.
Cackling laughter resounds as a GallĂ» Spirit bursts into existence from blue flames. When it speaks, the voice that comes out of it is eerily familiar:
âYouâve proven you can fight, but what of your mind? Use your brain and make your way towards me, or suffer a foolish death.â
Immediately, the world descends into chaos. It blurs, twists and undulates unpleasantly. Colors mix, yet somehow retain their shape. It is a vivid hallucination, as if one had taken psychedelic drugs. The GallĂ» Spirit cackles again as it disappears, leaving them to their doom.
Entering either portal will lead Outsiders to a wide cavern with even more portals. The cracks in the ground and streams of deep, rushing water are wide enough to fall into. There are slopes, rocky platforms and other natural cave hazards. Portals dot the walls and ceiling, tilted sideways or even upside down. Others traversing the maze can be seen sideways and upside down, even if they feel they're right side up. It's an Escher maze. For the especially keen, they may notice the faint scent of chalk lingering around some portals. Or, instead of the echoes of cave ambiance, the portals emit silence with the occasional flutter of a page, as if theyâre in a library.
Once they find the exit, Outsiders are greeted with a gate decorated with Greco-Roman motifs, sandwiched between stone shelves lined with carvings of tablets, books and scrolls. Sitting atop the frame that juts out of the rocky walls is a familiar man in unfamiliar form, playing with a cube containing a blue flame and looking bored out of his mind.
âNot bad. Five points.â
ⶠ005. GATE OF EXCISION (THIRD GATE OF THE UNDERWORLD)
From the last gate, Outsiders will have to navigate semi-narrow passageways and fissures, lined with bioluminescent mushrooms. Itâs easy to get lost, so make sure to use the buddy system to make your way through! It opens into a chasm, leading to a dock, and a lake. The buildings around the dock are decrepit and old.
In the middle of the lake, there is sharp ironwork interlaced with patches of stained bottle glass, and the top is inset with a small, teal gem. Getting to the gate seems easy. Itâs just in the middle of the lake, and a little swim never hurt anybody, right? If Outsiders try to swim, it will subject them to rift poisoning, and staring at it might tempt them to jump in.
There are GallĂ» spirits are dressed up like half-pint thugs, and their glass covered faces are pretty disarming! They wait alongside five monstrous forms in shredded clothing that the particularly observant will notice look like explorerâs garb â itâs Dr. Jones and the missing archaeologists!
"Do you know the difference between a man and a monster? Is it a fact of nature, is it something one is born with? Is a monster truly just nature? Sometimes, but not necessarily. Being a monster is often a choice. Becoming a monster is simple. It takes a simple choice. It means you have chosen to do whatever it takes, to take what you want. To hold power in your hands. We all understand that. Can you become the monsters you must become, to survive?"
With the last word, the archaeologists and the GallĂ» spirits attack. Though difficult, if Outsiders are able to defeat Dr. Jones and his crew of corrupted, shimmered archaeologists and Silco, then a path towards the door will lift from beneath the water to the gate.

ⶠ006. GATE OF SURVIVAL (FOURTH GATE OF THE UNDERWORLD || KAIJU FIGHT)
As the Outsiders descend a black staircase, they find a towering gate lit by flickering blue flames and a brick path leading to an endless field of lava. Thunder cracks as rain hisses against the magma. Overhead, clouds churn, lightning dancing through the Underworldâs ceiling.
A roar echoes from the gate and GallĂ» Spirits rise from the stones, clad in cheap monster suits like in a low-budget film. Both these spirits and the erratic lightning strikes are a threat as the kaiju unleashes torrents of malevolent red energy. The violent red energy pulses through its body, shining along its scales and feathers.
CW: GORE, LOSS OF LIMBS The battle is savage, with Lucy and Gilgamesh delivering the strongest blows. Lucyâs attack lands early in the fight, and the confusion caused to the kaiju by Raidou and Taryonâs recitals coupled with Akagi, Donatello, and Dearkaâs musical interference allows for a clean cut that removes the beastâs right arm! Thanks to Hunterâs ice magic, the beast is frozen solid in ice long enough for Kadaj to strike in deeply! Bravely, Muramasa allows Cagalliâs Akatsuki to throw him towards the kaiju like an angry sword wielding baseball. Capitalizing on Godzillaâs weakened legs Athrun seizes his tail and sends Godzilla tumbling to the ground. Nanami further unbalances the kaiju, allowing Gilgamesh to capitalize on this with his own attacks, the force of which knocks the kaiju hard enough that the tail rips right off!
END CW
This makes Godzilla very upset and sends him into a rampage! Thankfully, Aventurineâs falling poker chips keep everyone from the worst of the retributions. Aki, Vash, Lucy, Geto, and Shinn manage to land in attacks even as the continued damage leads to Godzilla charging his attack, the red glow from his mouth intensifying. All of those efforts give the perfect opening for Harumasaâs arrow to land a perfect hit! His arrow flies true, finding a gap in the scales of the kaiju's throat and delivering an electric shock into his body, sending the beast falling to the ground with that final decisive blow.
The kaiju manages to rise to his knees for a brief moment, so he can fire a final blast of red energy skyward, igniting the clouds and dispelling the storm. The majority of Rift Energy has been purged from his system. Fully spent, he collapses with the glow fading from his body. The spirits vanish, magma cools, and the path ahead clears.
Beyond this gate is an area of respite. A field of clay flowers and sculpted trees awaits, devoid of all life but providing a chance to rest and recover after their trials.

ⶠ007. AFTERWORD.
Welcome to the 6th travel log but 8th kaiju log... We'll just call it the 8th kaiju log. As mentioned in the last mingle, the June event is a player plot in which the Outsiders have come together in order to resolve the present crisis.
In this event, all seven gates of the Underworld will have to be crossed and their guardians defeated! However, your character doesnât need to play out going through every gate. They can let others deal with the earlier gates to focus on later gates. Though they are not featured in this log, Yzak, Bakugou, Hiyori and Ereshkigal will have their own trial/battle in the second log. It is possible to encounter them in this log if they have a top level and come to check on their fellow guardians protecting the earlier gates.
This event is longer than usual so please refer to the event breakdown below for summaries if necessary. Additional information may be provided in top levels of characters involved in the player plot planning.

EVENT BREAKDOWN/RECAP (CLICK TO EXPAND)
001. OUTSIDERS UNBOUND (TRAVEL) With none of the usual alarms or notifications, Outsiders are on their own in terms of figuring out the current crisis. Through the collective efforts of the Outsiders, they will have discovered a route to Ereshkigal and potentially the missing through Iraq. Outsiders are expected to find their own way to Kûr - the Underworld, whether with some help or through the data portal through Egypt.
002. KUR KIGAL With their arrival to the old city, Outsiders are provided shelter in the form of restored buildings that have been retro-fitted for their comfort. With food and shelter no longer a concern Dr. Masuda takes the Outsiders to the Temple of Ishtar where the trials await them deep in the tunnel and caves systems.
003. GATE OF GRAVE KEEPER In the first gate, Outsiders may find pitfall traps and strange gravestones with familiar names written on them. GallĂ» spirits can manifest as figures from characters' pasts and will try to convince characters to succumb to the effects of the Rift. Overcoming the trial and defeating Tsurumaru will allow Outsiders to pass to the next gate.
004. GATE OF REASON Outsiders must battle nauseating hallucinations and navigate a portal maze with dangerous traps and GallĂ» spirits. They can find portals that smell like chalk or sound like turning pages to reach the exit. Reaching the end and defeating Ratio will lead to the next gate.
005. GATE OF EXCISION Outsiders must work together to move throughout fissures, dangerous water, and trap buildings. They can encounter the missing scientists who are drugged to be berserk, stronger, and have more stamina. Defeating them and Silco will allow Outsiders to move on to the next gate.
006. GATE OF SURVIVAL Outsiders must climb up a staircase and fight Gallu spirits while avoiding energy blasts from Godzilla. The environment is very stormy and hot because of magma. Defeating the kaiju will allow Outsiders to move on the next gate but also provide them with a moment to rest and recover.

Yuji. He followed Bakugo down here. If you're here, so too must he.
[ such simple logic, simple lines connected. how laughable. but he's shoring up, look: the mark across his nose undulates, shifting until two more lines grow out of it like spilled ink to stretch up over his eyes. it's the only warning offered before choso darts at Silco, coming in low like he's looking to slip under the old man's blade and sink his own into that bony torso. ]
no subject
Silco didn't really, truly expect anyone to show up to find him, but being confronted for others is almost like rubbing acid on an open wound. He shouldn't be surprised, he isn't surprised, and yet, he's still insulted. ]
Oh yes, the boy. He's about.
[ Airily. Lightly. His lips tip into a smile. ] You d ââ
[ Choso's already moving. While he tries to monologue, the man is moving, and Silco starts to dodge back. He's not fast, even with the blessing, but he is sturdy, and he knows how to use the blade he's holding.
He tries to knock it away, his other hand reaching for the gun in his holster, to shoot him point blank. ]
no subject
the report of the gun is deafening, almost but not quite drowning out the shriek of metal when the bullet tears into the LILITH-grade alloy of choso's prosthetic. to his fortune, it lodges in the flexor-like fibres, coming to a smoking stop nestled between what stands in for his ulnar and radial bones. pretty nifty, these new limbs. it even bleeds, look: blood erupts out of the sparking 'wound' as if it were flesh, but rather than pour away, it forms up over the hand like a horrible, red glove, glistening in the fitful light of the chasm.
choso then promptly tries to drive his blood-coated palm up into Silco's chin. ]
no subject
Now, despite that, the man is scrappy. Like a little violent rat that seems to be fine giving up something for an advantage. The shot rang out â his ears are ringing â but there's nothing to do about it, he can only focus on getting out of this situation with Choso, get some advantage â he doesn't want to call the boy unless he has to, especially since he clearly wants to see him. Silco isn't about to do that to Yuji.
The bullet lands, slides into non-flesh, and his lips twitch in annoyance. He's about to shoot again, but Choso is fast, too fast. He's a warrior where Silco is a desk jockey, and it shows. His chin gets the full force of his palm, but Choso will find that Silco's hand slashes up with the knife, aiming for the same forearm, trying to catch it in the motion. ]
no subject
rather than let all that good blood go to waste, chose jerks back as he swings his arm down, allowing the blood shell to splatter out in a red arc at Silcoâs face. the world around them stinks of iron and copper; it keeps pouring, is the problem, it keeps on seeping out of chosoâs ruined prosthetic just like it keeps spilling from the mark across his face.
behind him, a wall of arterial-red blood arcs up over them like a cresting by wave. for all of Silcoâs trouble, choso brings a tsunami to a knife fight. unlike a tsunami, this one forms into spears the moment it hits its apex, and between one heartbeat and the other, each dreadful red spike begins to rain down on them. ]
no subject
The blood goes flying, Choso lets it spatter in an arc at his face, and It splashes across it in an arc, into his ever-open eye, it's already a sea of red. It looks even redder.
His lips peel back into a snarl, but the sea of red starts, and the first spear catches him in the thigh, slashing through the meat, not exactly a narrow cut, and he starts to step back, trying to predict and avoid.
But let's be real, he's one man. He did what he could and ââ ]
Do you really want to meet him?
[ He hissed, before ââ ]
no subject
that same blood paints Silco's eye a deeper red; it punctures Silco's flesh, so fresh and so warm from unnatural veins that it almost burns where it makes contact. it rains down like arrows, sharpened to impossible points to crack into the ground, chasing Silco's every step. ]
Yes.
[ snarled in return, all teeth and narrowed eyes. here in this dire chasm, two beasts clash with one another. ]
Cw: eye stuff lmao
Choso's blood mingles with a persistent infection. What it does... It's fighting kur's blessing and his own medications, but he staggers at the force of it. The burn. ]
Very well â [ He hissed, still fighting the pain, the burn, still trying to avoid the arrows but there are so many. ]
Yuji, deal with this one.
[ He doesn't yell it, but he expects him to come all the same. He's probably watching, after all. ]
no subject
This time, he recognises Choso. He knows him as the creature from before, trying to hurt his sensei, knows him for his blood and his strength. Thereâs no other real recognition in his eyes beyond that, a stoicism thatâs frightening and dangerous in equal measure. Yuji doesnât know about brotherhood. Not anymore.
Striding forward, he lifts his hands and summons the blood from Silcoâs body, wavering a little as he drags it off. Heâs still not good at this, but heâs been practicing - heâs doing his best.
He has to keep them safe.
He canât let anyone else die.
It will break him.
Tilting his head, he frowns at Choso. ]
Didnât I warn you already?
no subject
if there was a hell, this was it. this right here, never mind the underworld and its pantheons. nothing else could twist the knife so much as this.
choso doesn't even notice when his own hands come up to smear his own blood up his face, flesh fingers tangling into hair, the dead weight of the prosthetic dragging down his left cheek to leave scratches and streaks down his neck. ]
Yuji... Yuji. You did, but I can't. Your big brother can't leave this.
no subject
[ Yuji shifts his stance, adjusting his weight, expression tight.
Why does this hurt so much?
Why does he want to cry?
Why do his bones ache, why do his hands shake, why are his teeth burning - ]
I don't have a brother, and I gave you a chance to choose properly. There's no time for second chances.
[ That's what they said.
If Choso won't accept
- if he won't listen -
if he won't follow -
then he has to -
Yuji leaps, fist raised, to go for the gut. ]
1/2
the wave of red that had loomed over them undulates, shudders in the air like a veil caught in the wind. blood forms again into spears, jagged-ended spikes that shiver in the air for but a moment before they plunge down, intent on skewering the boy before he ever makes it close enough to land and they-- ]
2/2 cw: here there be violence & injury
Yuji's fist sinks into choso's gut with an appalling ease. an explosion of agony that whites out his vision for one breathless moment, that shorts all of him out for three, white-hot seconds. the force of it is such that it sends choso skidding back three full metres, and it is only by grace of his own strength that choso manages to keep to his feet even when he doubles over to retch up a burst of blood and bile.
blood spatters to the ground around them in a terrible rain; the sheet above has broken down, falling back to the earth harmlessly, uselessly, painting them both in oxidizing red. ]
cw: jjk spoilers, cannibalism refs, suicide ideation
Chosoâs blood sings to him, and something rattles in his rotten, wounded mind.
You were there when I needed someone the most.
Thatâs enough.
Glittering holograms. The taste of blood and flesh on his tongue. The desire to join them, to be eaten, consumed, taken, ruined. The wish to be -
Choso is -
Why isnât Yuji dead too? Isnât that the role he was born to play?
Your father⊠Scars on his headâ
And -
andâŠ
Thank you, Yuji. Thank you for being my little brother -
Fingers, covered in Chosoâs blood, flex.
In his own blood, the corruption wars. It surges. It takes that pain and manipulates it. If heâd just agreed.
Youâre like your father. Youâre twisted. You hurt the people you love. You deserve to -
He lowers his hand. ]
Are you listening? Join us, or leave.
no subject
Yuji's gotten more powerful, but is it his own strength at play here, or the Rift? ]
I khhhuh-- can't leave without you. I won't leave without you.
[ he has made it this far. he cannot give up now. he cannot go back without Yuji. he cannot leave his brother here in this wretched place, stuck with twisted-up people like Ratio and Silco. not even with Bakugo, not even with Ereshkigal.
another cough, another splatter of whatever was left in choso's stomach. ]
This is killing you, Yuji. This place will kill you; you have to come home.

[ Yuji knows he wonât take it.
He knows this isnât right. ButâŠ
He flexes his fingers. He stretches his arms. He sighs.
He prepares. ]
I donât want to hurt you. Not if I donât need to. Iâm not like that.

choso can't lie, not to himself, not to anyone else: he wants to. he wants to so badly, it's an ache, it's like a hook pulling at his bones from the centre of his chest, but he can't. he can't, because if he gives it up now, he will be letting down more than just LILITH; Raidou, Kadaj, Geto, Lucy, Bakugo, Yuji, all of them, each and every one of them. giving up meant throwing away these people who meant so much and their beliefs, their wants, their goals. giving up meant leaving Raidou alone. giving up meant breaking his promise with Kadaj. meant spitting on Bakugo's creed, meant abandoning Lucy and Nyuu, meant letting down Geto after all his advice.
Yuji, in his right mind, would never want this. of this, choso is certain.
spitting out a last glob of blood, choso settles into stance, achingly familiar; one hand outstretched, eyes forward, body slanted aside to minimize himself as a target. ]
I know you aren't. But I can't go, Yuji. Forgive me, but I cannot follow you now. I promised I always would, but I cannot.
[ one broken promise to protect the rest. the price hardly seems worth it, but Yuji, he belonged under the sun, not deep in the earth, dancing to the wretched tunes of things like Ratio and Silco. ]
I'm bringing you home whether you're ready to go or not.

[ Something hurts.
Little brothers eventually surpass their big brothers.
That doesn't mean the big brother has to disappear.
Fingers twitch in time with his heartbeat, an off-tempo beat that makes him lurch, his throat tight.
It's easy to slide into the fighting stance, arms raised, ready to throw more punches. Instinctively, he thinks he will win, he will overcome this enemy as he has others, that nothing will stand between him and what is ahead of him, but why does it feel so bad?
Why is his stomach twisting in knots?
His heel grinds, his body adjusts, and his lips curl into something savage. ]
Try your best.

he canât argue this; he is. choso, he is weak, foolish. a pathetic creature, neither human nor curse. too weak to defeat the corrupted on his own, too weak to keep Yuji from running away, too weak to keep his own brothers alive. too weak to forgive the men who let this happen to Yuji. ]
Come home.
[ he moves in time with his heartbeat, still one second and gone the next to dart in and close. the dead weight of his left arm snaps out in a feint, dead circuits letting the wrist swing out. beat. choso follows up, swings his living hand up with fingers curled, intent on driving the heel of his palm into Yujiâs chest.
it is dark down in this cavern and its decrepit docks, but every other heartbeat he swears he sees it all under flickering cyan and magenta fluorescents. ]

Yuji has that advantage over his brother now. ]
I am home.
[ Summoning his own strength, Yuji twists, pushing forward to fling a volley of his own hit towards Choso, without hesitation. ]

[ even back then, choso had been barely a step ahead. even back then, Yuji's only lack was experience against something that straddled the worlds like choso did. had he come at Yuji after Mahito had, history may have taken a different turn.
as it is, Yuji's strength already eclipses choso's own. it comes too quick, too hard; choso must brace for something he cannot dodge, and when Yuji's fist hits, the dual nature of it cracks through his already-shoddy guard to slam his raised arms against his ribs, sending him skidding back several feet. ]

His mind doesn't remember Choso.
His blood has forgotten.
There's no moment to pause; Yuji slams after Choso immediately, mustering his strength to start to beat into him, to bulldoze him with the influx of his punches. ]
cw: boys fighting, bleeding, agonizing
now, it is all he can do to defend himself.
Yuji pushes choso back in agonizing increments; a left hook drives choso back a step, right jab buckling his guard before Yujiâs haymaker slams into the dead weight of chosoâs broken prosthesis, snapping it back without resistance to crash into the side of his head. this sends him reeling away with a gasp, blinking wide and stupid against the sudden wash of his blood pouring out of the shallow gash in his temple. red splatters across the docks before it peels away from the rotting wood, the oozing blood of his wound peels away from chosoâs face like a vinyl sticker to form into a dire series of orbs that wreath his head like a horrible writhing halo.
but he doesnât use them. ]
Yuji! Enough!
[ itâs as much a command as it is a plea, a fucking hope for something brighter and warmer to spark under the cold curse of Ereshkigalâs hell.
blood continues to pour from wound and curse mark both, forming a blanket of red over the both of them like a looming wave before twisting into gleaming red points like spears, and still choso does not use them. ]
Yuji!

He's coated in blood, like a second skin, staining his face, his clothes, it feels as if it's all he can see or smell. He is a creature made of violence, of the need to hurt, and he walks after Choso, hearing his cries and thinking nothing of them.
Not at first.
But -
Yuji.
Yuji.
He stutters to a halt, hands hanging by his body, his eyes flickering for a moment before he breathes out. One arm lifts, rubbing dirt and blood from his face, and he tilts his head, expression tight, confused, lost, hurt -
who
am
I?
Shaking his head, he swallows. ]
Get out of here.

[ and itâs a sob, thick with blood, wrenching out of his heaving lungs, it runs roughshod to leave his throat feeling tight and raw in its wake.
look at him, choso. look at him. drenched in your blood, itâs the only colour left to him; heâs been drained so thoroughly. look at him, empty-eyed and hollow and hating. hating you, choso. you, who left your ruinous blood in Tsurumaru; you who spit poison at Ratioâs feet; you who filled Silco with blood and injury and still might be had Yuji not come to save him from you.
one year here was not enough, will never be enough to change what you are at the core of you:
curse. ]
Not without you.
